POSITION TITLE:         Human Resources Coordinator        

SUPERVISOR:             Director of Human Resources

LOCATION:                  Washington, DC Metro Area (Arlington, Virginia)



The Human Resources Coordinator performs human resources related duties on a professional level which includes but is not limited to:  recruitment, performance management, benefits administration, orientation/training, internships and the day-to-day functions of the department.


  1. Coordinates recruitment efforts for exempt, nonexempt and temporary positions by posting ads and scheduling interviews.
  2. Performs benefits administration by coordinating open enrollment meetings, enrolling new employees into the group health and other qualified plans, updating employee records, and communicating benefits information to employees.
  3. Serves as technical lead for organizational software systems such as ApplicantPro and Paychex HR Online.
  4. Oversees the volunteer and internship program by responding to requests, onboarding new volunteers and interns, establishing collegiate relationships, and insuring Department of Labor compliance.
  5. Plans and schedules holiday and training events for the organization
  6. Prepares payroll by collecting employee information, entering new employees into the payroll system and coordinating all changes with the accounting department on a semi-monthly basis.

  • Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of professional human resources experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of HR software systems.
  • Detail-oriented, takes initiative and completes tasks independently.
  • Ability to handle and maintain sensitive/confidential information with tact, courtesy, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Strong customer service focus, well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of people across divisions.
  • Must be able to prioritize and make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with organizational policies and procedures as well as federal employment law.


  • Knowledge of HR Paychex Online, ApplicantPro



  • Ability to stay focused and maintain composure in a fast-paced, stressful environment
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, copiers and storage rooms
  • Requires frequent communication, verbal and written
  • Ability to hear well and speak clearly to engage effectively with staff
  • Ability to lift and carry audio/visual equipment up to 15lbs
  • Requires ability to visually or otherwise identify, observe or assess
  • Ability to use organizational technology and multi-phone systems
