NatureServe

NatureServe and the National Park Service (NPS) have partnered to create a website about parks in the NPS National Capital Region (NCR) that engages visitors, staff, and neighbors via stories about the parks' natural communities and natural history (www.ExploreNaturalCommunites.org). The goal of these internships is to produce podcasts (or other multimedia) that will enrich the visitor experience and provide creative content for the mobile [under development] and desktop web applications for www.ExploreNaturalCommunities.org.

SUMMARY OF JOB:

Up to four interns will work individually or in teams of two to four. The internship schedule is flexible and located in Durham, NC or Arlington, VA. Interns may begin part-time from March through May and switch to full-time during the summer from June through mid-August 2017, depending on the availability and situation of selected individuals. NatureServe, park staff, and the NCR Urban Ecology Research Learning Alliance will collaborate with interns to create communication projects (e.g., podcasts, videos) about the natural history of parks in the NPS National Capital Region.  The national parks are considered "clients" for the intern projects.  Expect to adjust to client schedules for multiple iterative reviews and approvals before completing a project. This is a paid internship.
